Our Doctors
Dr. Melanie Goodell is a farm girl transplanted to the suburbs, but she still loves to see things grow, including her patients and their families. And she’s been around long enough to see her second generation of patients.
"What I love most about my job is watching kids and their families grow and evolve from birth to college and as parents returning with their own children."
Professionally, Dr. Goodell is interested in treating asthma, addressing developmental concerns, and educating parents of newborns, especially concerning breastfeeding.
Personally, Dr. Goodell met her husband in medical school, and they have been married for over 30 years. They have two daughters: the oldest is married and now a genetic counselor in Baltimore and the younger is a mechanical engineer in Seattle. In her free time, Dr. Goodell enjoys gardening, walking, hiking, cooking, and reading.
After earning her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, Dr. Goodell received her MD from Wayne State University in Detroit. She completed her residency at Wyler Children’s Hospital (Comer Children’s Hospital) at the University of Chicago, then served for an additional year as Chief Resident there. Dr. Goodell is an Instructor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
