Our Doctors

Jonathan Kaufman

Dr. Kaufman has brought his warmth and dedication to his patients for over 30 years. His passion for providing the best quality care to children extends to his local communities and beyond.

"I love the concept of delivering primary care over several years, and watching patients and their families grow, develop and change as their children grow."

Dr. Kaufman has particular interests in the development and behavior of children, and caring for patients with autism. He is passionate about giving back to the community, acting as a volunteer physician for the Family Health Partnership Clinic for underinsured children, the DEAR Clinic evaluating patients who may be on the autism spectrum, the McHenry County Health and Wellness Fair, and for Orphanage Outreach in the Dominican Republic. Additionally, he served as a board member on Options and Advocacy for McHenry County, an organization dedicated to serving individuals with developmental disabilities, and for the McHenry County Jewish Congregation.

Many organizations have recognized Dr. Kaufman for his commitment to practicing the best medicine possible. He is a multi-year recipient of Chicago Magazine’s "Top Doc" Award, is one of McHenry County’s “Best of the Fox” winners, and was chosen to be featured in the book The 50 Most Positive Doctors in America by physician and medical historian Mike Magee, MD.

"I chose Pediatrics to try and deliver a high standard of care to my patients and their families, well above the care I received when I was a pediatric patient, and to try to make a positive impact on children and the families that I serve so they may themselves make a positive impact on those around them when they grow up."

When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Kaufman spends time with his wife, three adult children, grandson, three dogs, and three cats, who keep him on his toes! He enjoys staying healthy and active through playing competitive tennis, long distance running, skiing, and ice hockey.

A board-certified pediatrician, Dr. Kaufman received his undergraduate degree from Colby College, graduating with an honors degree in mathematics, and medical degree from the Chicago Medical School. He completed his Pediatric Residency at the University of Illinois-Chicago and was Chief Resident during the 1988-89 academic year.
