Our Doctors
Dr. Moosabhoy, who many of you know better as “Dr. Moof,” has had the honor of caring for patients at Hinsdale Pediatrics since 2012. A gentle and caring pediatrician, Dr. Moof finds that building relationships with patients and their families is incredibly fulfilling.
"I love getting to know the family and over time being a close part of their child’s growth and development. I enjoy being supportive to parents when they need advice on the health and development of their child."
Dr. Moof has a wide variety of medical interests. These include caring for patients facing mental and behavioral health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD. He also has a particular interest in helping parents learn about their child’s development and behavior.
An avid traveler, Dr. Moof and his family have visited multiple continents! As a result of his travels, Dr. Moof was inspired to help people around the world attain good health through volunteering in international medical camps in India, Pakistan, and across Africa, where individuals who ordinarily do not have access to appropriate healthcare can receive medical attention and diabetes screenings. Dr. Moof also runs 5 non-profit medical clinics in India, where over 140,000 patients receive care each year, when they would otherwise lack access to proper health education.
Outside of the office, Dr. Moof enjoys spending time with his wife and their three accomplished daughters. A proud father, Dr. Moof and his family are looking forward to being able to travel again, and cross some new destinations off of the family bucket list!
Dr. Moof earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana. After some years of working in the engineering field, he attended medical school at Rush Medical College, where he received his medical degree. Dr. Moof completed his pediatrics residency training at the University of Chicago, and is a board-certified pediatrician.
Q&A
What's something you think people would be surprised to learn about you?
I used to be a mechanical engineer and although I enjoyed the work, I felt there was a void in my work. I felt like my calling was to help people and I was drawn towards medicine and then pediatrics.
Why did you choose to go into pediatrics?
I saw how many children my mom was able to help when I was growing up and the appreciation she received from their parents throughout her career. This inspired me to follow in her footsteps when I decided to pursue medicine.
What are you the most proud of?
I am most proud of my 3 beautiful daughters and how different they are. My oldest daughter is studying psychology, planning to attend medical school and become an emergency room doctor. My second daughter spent 1 year memorizing the Holy Quran in Nairobi, Kenya at age 11 and her ambition is to become a lawyer. My youngest baby is a force to be reckoned with: a great student and strong swimmer.
What is your comfort food?
I am a simple guy who loves a slice of plain cheese pizza.
