Our Doctors
Dr. Friedman has been caring for children across Chicagoland for over 20 years. He is dedicated to using up-to-date treatments by continuously evaluating cutting-edge research in pediatric medicine in order to provide comprehensive medical care for the children and families he serves. Dr. Friedman also has many responsibilities in addition to seeing patients. He serves on the Board of Managers of PediaTrust and is the Chief Information Officer, in which role he works to protect patients, families, and his colleagues and staff from digital threats.
Dr. Friedman’s passion for the pursuit of knowledge shone through early in his medical training. While in medical school, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and honored with the Tom Reeves Outstanding Medical Student Award. Dr. Friedman graduated with honors at the top of his medical school class from University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1998, and completed his residency training at the University of Chicago Children’s Hospital (now Comer Children’s Hospital).
Before entering the world of medicine, Dr. Friedman served in the United States Navy as a Naval Aviator. During his seven years of active duty, he flew SH-60B Seahawk helicopters out of Naval Air Station North Island, California, from which he deployed twice, including once to the Persian Gulf as part of Operation Desert Storm. After leaving active duty, he transferred to the Naval Reserve Medical Corps from which he retired in 2005.
When he’s not at the office, Dr. Friedman still takes to the air! He is an FAA-certified commercial, instrument, and instructor pilot, with ratings to fly fixed and rotary-wing aircraft. Back on the ground, he enjoys spending time with his wife, five children, and two Labrador Retrievers, who keep him very busy.
